Farm Bureau Applauds House Passage of Reconciliation Package

WASHINGTON --The passage of the House Reconciliation Package-H.R. 1- was applauded by Farm Bureau as it modernizes farm bill programs and extends and improves critical tax provisions that benefit America's small farmers and ranchers.

Montana Farm Bureau President Cyndi Johnsons said, "While our advocacy journey with farm programs and tax provisions impacting agriculture is far from over, Montana agriculture is thrilled to see the progress through the reconciliation bill. Our fervent hope is that the U.S. Senate will continue the accelerated effort to bring this bill home. The tax provisions regarding business and estate tax exemptions are also favorable to Montana's small businesses, many of which are closely tied to the agriculture economy and our rural communities."

Johnson thanked Representative Ryan Zinke and Representative Troy Downing for their support of the bill and their understanding of the Montana's agricultural economy.

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall said, "Updated reference prices will provide more certainty for farmers struggling through tough economic times. Making business tax deductions permanent and continuing current estate tax exemptions will ensure that thousands of families will be able to pass their farms to the next generation.

"We urge the Senate to work together and swiftly pass legislation to deliver much-needed relief to America's farm and ranch families."
