Minister Elmedin Konaković met with the Ambassador of Sweden to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Helena Lagerlöf

On March 13, 2026, Elmedin Konaković, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, met with Helena Lagerlöf, the Ambassador of Sweden to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Both leaders reaffirmed the excellent and friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden, highlighting their mutual commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation. It was noted that Sweden provides significant support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's European integration process, particularly through active development cooperation.

Minister Konaković expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Sweden for its long-term and consistent support of sustainable development, institutional reforms, and the European integration efforts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ambassador Lagerlöf informed Minister Konaković that the Government of Sweden has adopted a new Strategy for Reform Cooperation with Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans, and Turkey for the period 2026-2030. This strategy aims to strengthen reform processes and bring these countries closer to the European Union.

In this context, both sides expressed a strong interest in concluding a new agreement on reform cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden. This agreement would provide a clear strategic framework for ongoing support of reform processes, institutional strengthening, and further progress towards Bosnia and Herzegovina's EU membership.

The meeting also addressed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on reform processes and the country's European aspirations.
