At Wednesday's Board of Supervisors Meeting, the Board formally approved a resolution incorporating San Tan Valley, and chose the seven community members who will form the inaugural Town Council.
Following a rigorous process that saw 86 applications and thirteen candidates interviewed in public during a Special Session Meeting on Monday, the Board chose the following candidates, listed in alphabetical order:
The new Town Council will be officially sworn in at a ceremony on Thursday, September 25th at 6 p.m., at Central Arizona College - San Tan Campus, 3736 Bella Vista Road, Room STC A100 & A101 Community Room, San Tan Valley, AZ 85143.
District 2 Supervisor Mike Goodman said, "I want to thank everyone who put themselves forward for consideration for the inaugural Town Council. I believe that between myself and my fellow Supervisors, we have chosen a strong first council in a transparent and competitive process. We had to make some tough decisions, and I would urge all those who applied to stay involved, and to consider running when open elections are held in less than a year."
The newly appointed council will sit until open elections are held in line with the 2026 Primary Election on August 4, 2026.
With the approval of the resolution, San Tan Valley is officially recognized as a Town today; however, Pinal County will continue to provide services through June 30, 2026.
