Career Services celebrates successes of Idaho workforce development grant

December 2024 marked the end of a three-year grant awarded to Boise State's Career Services from the Idaho Workforce Development Council.

Career Services used the funds to create their Career Accelerator Program, an internship initiative intended to increase both the impact of and access to internships for Boise State students. The department has summarized their successes with a new webpage and video.

Some highlights of developing the next generation of Idaho's workforce include:

  • 293 student participated in internships that were paid either through the grant, through matching funds or through community partners
  • The program put over $230,000 into the pockets of students who would have otherwise been participating in unpaid internships
  • 15 academic departments and faculty participated and implemented an internship curriculum based on high impact practices

"While the grant period may have ended, we will continue the programming it helped create because we know that impactful and accessible internships are key to building Idaho's workforce," said Debbie Kaylor, director of Career Services.
