A clean, safe city remains a top priority for the City of Fort Worth. In Fiscal Year 2025, the Environmental Services Department, Park & Recreation Department, UpSpire, area partners and volunteers removed more than 18.6 million pounds of litter and debris, maintaining services across the community and supporting high-impact areas.
Efforts included:
These coordinated efforts kept public spaces clean and supported Fort Worth's commitment to a safer, cleaner, greener community.
Environmental Services oversees the Keep Fort Worth Beautiful (KFWB)-led communitywide cleanup events in FY25, including the Neighborhood Litter Stomp (October), Cowtown Great American Cleanup (March) and other volunteer-driven efforts. In FY25, more than 7,700 volunteers contributed over 31,000 hours to remove 208,000 pounds of litter citywide. Programs such as Adopt-A-Spot, School Green Teams, Green Business Partners and neighborhood cleanups will continue in FY26, giving residents year-round opportunities to support cleaner, safer communities.
Partnering for success: The Park & Recreation Department manages City parks and the City's contract mowing program, which includes litter abatement along public rights-of-way, medians, select unimproved alleys and City facilities. In FY25, contract crews expanded winter litter collection while mowing services were paused, removing tens of thousands of pounds of trash and debris from public property. This year-round approach will continue in FY26 to maintain clean corridors, parks and green spaces across Fort Worth. Environmental Services and Park & Recreation combine services for larger cleanup efforts and partner with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and others to maximize cleanup efforts.
What's ahead in 2026? Litter control efforts will continue to support the City's safe, clean and green priorities in FY26. Environmental Services will also add five new UpSpire crews to support illegal campsite cleanups. Environmental Services and Park & Recreation will also join forces and prepare for increased demands during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in coordination with local and regional partners. Community cleanup events throughout the year will continue to engage residents and visitors in supporting a cleaner, safer Fort Worth.
What you can do: Controlling litter at its source is the most effective way to prevent it. Residents can report litter or illegal dumping through the MyFW app or by calling 817-392-1234. To get involved, join a community cleanup or volunteer with Keep Fort Worth Beautiful by emailing [email protected] or contacting the City Call Center.
