Neogen® expands Colitag™'s water testing capabilities with launch of Neogen® MPNTray™

LANSING, Mich., October 13, 2025 - Neogen® today announced the launch of the Neogen MPNTray™, a new extension of its Colitag Water Testing System, designed for water testing laboratories and municipalities. The MPNTray provides both quantitative results for total coliforms and Escherichia coli (E. coli), as well as traditional presence/absence results from a water sample-enabling users to gain more comprehensive insights into water quality.

Colitag is approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Revised Total Coliform Rule and the Ground Water Rule, and by the FDA for use in dairy source waters and agricultural produce water.

The MPNTray uses a sterile 97-well tray format to deliver clear, visual results from a 100 mL water sample. Paired with Colitag, laboratories can detect total coliforms and E. coli at 1 CFU per 100 mL, with quantitative results available in as little as 16 hours and valid for up to 48 hours.
