Austin, Texas-May 28, 2026
Nova Scotia Health has successfully implemented a new clinical information system, powered by Oracle Health, across the province's Central Zone, which represents the largest concentration of healthcare facilities and providers in Nova Scotia. The deployment, which includes the greater Halifax area, Eastern Shore, and West Hants, serves approximately half of Nova Scotia's population and marks a significant advancement in the province's One Person One Record initiative to create a more connected, patient-centered healthcare system. With the system now live, healthcare providers across the region's hospitals, clinics, and care settings have streamlined access to unified patient information, helping support care coordination and faster clinical decision-making.
"This is a transformative moment for healthcare in Nova Scotia," said Tanya Nixon, Vice President of Operations, One Person One Record, Nova Scotia Health. "With this system now live, our clinicians are better equipped with timely, integrated patient information to deliver safer, more efficient, and more coordinated care. This milestone represents meaningful progress toward a truly connected health system that puts patients at the center."
The go live in Nova Scotia Health's Central Zone builds on the successful implementation at IWK Health in December 2025 with Oracle Health. Together, these deployments reflect strong collaboration, planning, and system design to standardize workflows and modernize healthcare delivery across the province.
Oracle Health's platform supports a wide range of clinical and operational capabilities, including electronic health records, health information exchange, data analytics, and specialty workflows, all running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The system is designed to help providers access the right information at the right time, improving patient experiences while reducing administrative burden.
"The successful implementation of the clinical information system in the Central Zone marks an important milestone in Nova Scotia's digital health transformation," said Erin O'Halloran, vice president and Canada market leader, Oracle Health and Life Sciences. "We continue to support the health system in Nova Scotia in delivering a unified clinical platform that brings the patient story together in one place, helping care teams collaborate more effectively and deliver more connected, patient-centered care."
The implementation is part of a 10-year collaboration between Nova Scotia and Oracle Health. As deployment continues across the province, the system is expected to further support reduced wait times, minimize duplicate testing, enhance care delivery, and strengthen recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals by providing modern, integrated tools.
