Kenilworth Courts Residents Start September by Enjoying a Fun-Filled Community Block Party

September 9, 2025 8:21 AM

The DC Housing Authority (DCHA) hosted its latest Rebuilding Our Communities Block Party at Kenilworth Courts, bringing together DCHA families for the latest celebration aimed at building community while featuring fun activities, fantastic food, live music, games, and more.

The block party presented an opportunity for residents to engage with friends and neighbors in the area, as well as DCHA staff members.

DCHA staff and volunteers distributed free groceries and household supplies to resident families before the festivities began. The block party also included free haircuts, a caricature artist, face painter, moon bounces, a mobile video game truck, and a special appearance by Mickey Mouse.

DCHA's Rebuilding Our Communities Block Party series will continue through October on Saturdays. Along with providing fun activities and fostering connection among the local community, the events also provide resources for residents. DCHA partners with various organizations, which join the events to provide tools for residents that can provide emotional, physical or social support.

Service providers took part in the block party at Kenilworth Courts, engaging with DCHA residents and offering a multitude of services. Providers offered resources related to education, workforce development, job opportunities, healthcare, and more. Nonprofits, academic institutions, private employers, and DC government agencies that are dedicated to supporting the DC community discussed resources with residents.

DCHA is grateful for the service providers who helped make this event possible:
