Condolences of the President of Georgia

The passing of His Holiness and Beatitude, Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, has caused profound sorrow in the heart of each of us.


His contribution to the strengthening and development of our Mother Church is invaluable. The half-century-long, epoch-making service of His Holiness to the homeland and the nation will remain an unparalleled example of devotion, while his wisdom and love will leave a deep and enduring imprint on the hearts of us all.

Throughout this entire period, he selflessly cared for Georgia and became a steadfast pillar of support for our people. The Patriarch's wisdom and paternal compassion will be deeply missed by all.

Once again, I extend my condolences to all of Georgia on this immense loss. I wish the family of the Catholicos-Patriarch, as well as the clergy and the faithful, the Lord's support and spiritual strength in these most difficult moments.
