Iowa Corn continues to find new ways to connect with farmers in the countryside. From postcards to radio to tv and even right on your phone, Iowa Corn works to meet farmers to showcase the benefits of making your voice heard through the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and highlight the work of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB).
In the last few years, podcasts have risen in popularity, making them a perfect tool to connect with farmers. Through targeted partnerships with farm podcasts, Iowa Corn has been able to reach audiences right where they are.
While every podcast has different topics and listenerships, Iowa Corn has selected strategic farm podcast partnerships to highlight projects and programs that also fit the podcast's focus and content.
One of the first podcasts that Iowa Corn partnered with was Farm4Profit, a well-known and established agricultural podcast focused on farmer profitability and business decisions.
Through this partnership, Iowa Corn highlighted the very first Iowa Corn 350 NASCAR race in 2024, where the power and performance of ethanol, and the farmers that grow it, were showcased. The goal of the partnership was to share insight into why Iowa Corn was sponsoring the NASCAR race to reach consumers, influencers and farmers alike with a multifaceted approach.
Last year, Farm4Profit was also a key partner in reaching farmers ahead of the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series, as well as ICGA's policy development process from roundtables to the Grassroots Summit.
Another key partnership has been with Barn Talk, a podcast hosted by father-son Tork and Sawyer Whisler, who are also active ICGA members in District 9.
The podcast has provided a platform for Iowa Corn voices, from Iowa Corn CEO Craig Floss sharing the Iowa Corn mission and vision to ICGA First Vice President Steve Kuiper discussing policy work and grassroots activation across the state.
Iowa Corn has also partnered with DiscoverAg, a popular national podcast that covers the latest news in food, agriculture and pop culture.
This partnership has allowed Iowa Corn to reach an engaged audience already curious about agriculture, sharing stories about new uses for corn and Iowa Corn's involvement in the Iowa Corn 350 NASCAR race, showcasing how corn shows up in the 4,000-plus products consumers use every day.
"Engaging with popular podcasts has been a great avenue to showcase the hard work of Iowa corn farmers and help highlight the important work of the ICPB and ICGA," shared Joe Roberts, farmer from Wright County and ICPB President. "Having the opportunity to share on DiscoverAg about my farm and the products that my corn ultimately goes into with a national audience, made it clear we are elevating the impact that Iowa corn farmers have to consumers nationwide."
Outside of these partnerships, Iowa Corn has also worked with a number of other podcasts for short episodes on everything from livestock to water quality.
Iowa Corn knows that the best way to showcase the work of ICGA and ICPB is meeting our audience where they already are. Farm podcasts have been one of the many ways that Iowa Corn has amplified its messaging.
